I had never heard this song until today. I absolutely love it and felt like this song was written just for me. I tagged my exhusband, which I’m still living with, to please listen to this song and think about me as being someone’s daughter. I just want him to realize what he actually did to me was wrong. I know he will never admit to being wrong about anything, no matter what. He never has. He has always blamed me for his unhappiness and has always tried to justify & blame his wrong doings on me. I just want him to atleast realize that l do matter! And what he has done to me over the years was wrong! I just got divorced a few months ago from a narcissist husband of 30 years. I was a victim of domestic violence & suffered from mental & physical abuse. After out 1st year of marriage we decided We were ready to start our family. And a few months after I became pregnant with our 1st and only child, is when he started having his strange and abusive behavior patterns. It started out as being only once a month he would flip out and be very mean to me for no reason at all and then it was every 2weeks, & then every week, until eventually it was every single day. His anger issues were out of control, to the point of him putting a loaded pistol to my head that had no safety on it, & other days he would pull out the pistol every time he got angry saying he was going to kill himself because I was going to leave him. One day he told me he would shoot me first and then shoot himself. when I finally started standing up for myself and not backing down from him, which was just a couple of years ago, which is when my mother just all of a sudden decided to tell me that she had sex with my husband & their affair had started after our first year of marriage, while I was pregnant! I had no idea who I was even married to at that point & I was in total disbelief when my own mama told me she had sex with my husband and when she first admitted this to me, she lied to me and said she only had sex with him one time. I was like, well one time is one time too many! I later found out that is was an affair they going on for several years. I also found out that he had been cheated on me with one of his coworkers that was young enough to be his daughter. I had suspicions about several other women because he would always compare me to other women he worked with and just any random woman he would be looking at wherever and whenever went together. He would say to me, why can’t you be more like that woman, why can’t you dress like that woman? Why don’t you act like that mom? Why don’t you act like a real wife to me? Why can’t you act like that lady over there does with her husband? I have always been good to him and have always been a very loyal wife to him and I have always been a very good mother to our daughter. I say that, because he would always tell me that I didn’t know how to be a good mother either. Which is a complete lie, because I was always trying to protect her from having to know how her daddy was treating me. He didn’t care if she saw me being pushed down the steps as I was headed to take our baby girl to school and then try to pick myself, my high heels and purse up off the ground so I could get our beautiful and precious daughter calmed down from crying and being upset for having to see what her daddy just did to her mama. As out daughter got older he started killing her self esteem because he would always compare her to her friends and embarrass the crap out of her while her friends were over at our house because he would be putting her down for making bad grades and her friends were not. He’s the reason she struggled in school! When I started taking up for myself verbally, is when he started going to the courthouse behind my back telling them a bunch of lies about me, and they believed him! They would show up at my house and put me in handcuffs and take me off to these horrible hospitals to have me evaluated on the lies he was telling on me. He was telling them that he was scared of me and told them I needed to be evaluated to see what was wrong with me and see why I was behaving differently. I had to beg some Dr that didn’t know anything about me, if I could please just go home. It didn’t matter what I said or pleaded to him. He wouldn’t believe me anyways because of me being brought in with handcuffs on and 2 sheriffs song with a court order and sheet full of lies by my abusive narcissist husband!
